Information about the MIIC tournament for Feb. 27. 2016
All wrestlers report to Eastwood at 6:20am on Saturday morning Feb. 27. 2016. Please use Door 10, athletic doors. We will leave on bus to Lawrence Central High School no later than 6:30am. This is a varsity only line up. All other wrestlers welcome to join and support the team. Here is the information about the wrestling tournament for parents below.

Weight Classes: 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 155, 165, 180, 215, 240, 275
Pound Allowances: A maximum of 2 lbs above stated weight class will be allowed per wrestler.
Wrestlers in 180 lb weight class and above will not be allowed to bump weights.
Roster Changes: Maximum of three (3) alternate replacements of wrestlers will be allowed the morning of the meet. All other changes must be communicated to tournament director by 2:00 PM Friday 2/26/2016.
Period Length: 2:00, 1:00, 1:00 Overtime periods will follow NFHS rules
Awards Presented: Team Overall Winner
Individual Winners by Weight Class
Tournament Format: 16 man bracket with wrestle back (see attached sample)
Warm-up Area: The Lawrence Central Wrestling room will be available for wrestlers preparing to compete once they are listed as “in the hole”.
Mat Assignments: Weight classes will be assigned to mats for all rounds before championship.
Championship round matches will be on feature mats.
Spectator seating: All spectators will be required to sit in balcony seating.
Lower level seating will be reserved for teams and team personnel.
Admission: All Ages: $5.00
Under 6: Free
Parking & Spectator Entrance All busses should drop teams at door #9 and proceed to park in SE lot nearest football stadium (see attached map).
Spectators should park in north lots and enter through door #9.

Dear Parents & Guardians ,
Let the season begin:
Season starts tomorrow ! Whoo hoo! This season will go by quick so the number one thing I tell the wrestlers is to be safe at home which means, don’t do anything out of the ordinary! We can’t afford to lose any wrestlers for messing around with cousins or friends. Last thing we want is for someone to get hurt while in season. Anyone wrestler out of the line up hurts the whole team. Everyone has a part in the team, one way or another.
Away matches: We will leave as a team around 4:25pm from Eastwood and try to arrive at our destination by 5:00pm.
If you as a parent are going to the meets, your wrestler may go home with you from the meet. I must see you present at the meet so I can mark him or her off the bus list home.
Once the meet is over, we will get back on the bus and head to Eastwood. I will have everyone call home from the away school so you can be aware of what time to meet the bus back to Eastwood. It’s usually around 7:30pm. Please be there before we get back to Eastwood. Thank you!

We have ordered our Eastwood sweatsuits, hoodie and sweatpants together as a team this week and the total cost will be $40.00. The order will take about two weeks or less. You may pay by cash or check. If you pay by check please make the check out to Daniel Mayorga. All payments will be paid directly to me.
Please have your payment in before Feb 12, 2016. Thank you for all of your support.
This will be the only payment we collect as a team. Singlets, headgear, travel water, and first aid kit is all supplied by Eastwood Wrestling.

We will be ordering Eastwood sweatshirts and sweatpants this week as our Eastwood wrestling warm ups for 2016 season. I will keep the wrestlers posted on how much the sweatsuit will be in total as soon as we make the order. If wrestlers already have a sweatsuit then they will not need to purchases a new one. We are going to make them exactly the same as last year.

Middle School Day
Eastwood Wrestling Team
The Eastwood wrestling team is invited to watch a North Central wrestling tournament this weekend. Saturday Jan. 9th @ 10:00 am at North Central High School. The team will be recognized during half time by the high school coaches and in our honor, pizza will be provided for lunch. This is an opportunity for NC coaches to talk with the team about their future as a Panther Wrestler . Northview team and Westlane team will be there also.

Yesterday Northveiw hosted the township wrestling tournament and Eastwood came out with 4 tournament champions.
Those MSDWT champions are Jasper Ross at 70 pounds, Nate Denny at 115 pounds, Devon Westbrook at 80 pounds and Clay Toone at 165 pound weight class.
Congratulations…. well done!
Reminder for the wrestling team. We have a home meet on Monday March 2. Please be ready to wrestle because next week we have a back to back match also having a meet on Tuesday March 3rd.
Monday March 2nd is our last home wrestling meet.

Attention Eastwood wrestlers and families!
I’m proud to announce to the Eastwood Wrestling Community that we have a new Head Coach for the 2014-2015 wrestling season. Coach Mac will be taking over as Head coach for Eastwood Middle School. Coach Mac has been with the program for more than several years. Mac knows first hand everything I have been doing to build the Eastwood Wrestling program since my first season as Head Coach in 2007. After all these years i’ve been coaching Eastwood wrestling, Coach Mac has been by my side for every step of the way for this program. Coach Mac dedicated 7 years of volunteering hours to be my assistant coach. Mac has help me develop the wrestling skills of our wrestlers, build self confidence with team comradery. Coach Mac dedicates extra time into the program outside of school as well. He has started B.I.G Wrestling , an AAU wrestling club and looks to coach our youth in the community. He has coached Eastwood wresters in the ISWA weekend tournaments. He was recently the North Central ISWA coach for the elementary wrestlers and strives to teach young wrestlers before they get to the middle school level. He has put in 100 percent loyalty in every season at Eastwood and dedicated his personal time to me and the team for every practice and team meets. I’m honored to pass the torch to Coach Mac. I’m honored to be the one to help Coach Mac continue to build this program and help him as he as helped me. Thank you Coach Mac for stepping up once again and helping out the team for Eastwood Wrestling.
Your dedication to Eastwood and the wrestling team is priceless!

Make up! We are planning on making up the Fall Creek match on Thursday 2/6/14 @ Fall Creek. This match will be a triple dual vs Fall Creek and Westlane. So Thursday please have your wrestler wear their EW wrestling sweatshirt to school and be ready to wrestle Thursday night. We will leave Eastwood at 4:15 and arrive at Fall Creek around 4:45 pm. The meet will start around 5:30 pm. If you can not make the meet (Parents) to Fall Creek, your wrestler will have to be picked up at door 10 around 7:30 on Thursday night at Eastwood School. I will make sure to have the boys call home when we are on our way back from the meet.

Important Announcement! We have a wrestling meet tomorrow Tuesday the 4th at Fall Creek Valley. Sorry I was going by our student agenda books and it wasn’t in there when I made the schedule the first time. We will leave school at 4:15 and be back around 7:00 . We wrestle Fall Creek Valley at Fall Creek. If weather becomes an issue this page will be the first to know and I will make sure to update everybody if we need to cancel!
Parents… Eastwood wrestling starts this week! We have our first match on Tuesday 2/4 & Wednesday 2/5 at 4:45 on Tuesday away and Wednesday at home Eastwood. Please come out and support your wrestler. We decided as a team to hold a practice on Friday January 31st, our first Friday practice! This will be a parent only pickup day because late buses are not available on Fridays. Please see that you are able to pick up your wrestler after practice on Friday Jan.31st at 5:35 from the athletic door 10. If you are unable to pick your wrestler up then let them know they need to go home on the bus right after school. This is a mandatory practice, but understand all circumstances.

I will make a new order for sweatshirts next week 1/29/14 if I can get enough wrestlers who want to order a sweatshirt with last name on back. Only those wrestlers that turned in sweatshirt order form before winter break and paid are getting the new Eastwood sweatshirt next week.

There will be no practice this week of winter break. First official practice starts Monday Jan. 6th. Also, If you can please try and pick up a pair of navy blue sweatpants to match your Eastwood sweatshirt. They sell them at Target or Walmart. Nothing fancy just navy blue sweatpants or athletic pants! Physicals, make sure to get your physical by first practice if you do not have one on file. Last, there is an extended deadline for the second order of sweatshirts for those that did not turn your money into me last week. Last day to turn in your $20 for your sweatshirt order is January 9th.
